The town of Felinmawr is situated within a bowl-shaped valley or “cwm” called Cwm Felin. A rocky and irregular valley with steep slopes on the northern side, it is covered with trees and shrubs where the land has not been cleared for farming. Some fields are small and terraced, particularly toward the north, while others are broad and capable of supporting fields of hard red wheat, oats, and barley which make the foundation of the local food. Sheep and goats are the primary herd animals with cows kept for milk. Dogs are popular companions, keeping wolves and other predators at bay while their keen senses remain alert to orcs and goblins.
